I have this bug bite on the back of my leg from Summerfest. Yes, that's how long my bug bites last. ::is really allergic to mosquito venom:: I itched it raw and now that it's healing it's itching again. :( Like a really lot. ::tries to resist itching::

In other news, Heather and I went out to sell some of her old DVDs and to buy House season 3 and the new Serenity collection. We hauled our butts all the way to Suncoast (sniff, I miss my store!) and she got mucho deniro for her things, and we picked up House, but! Those jerks didn't have Serenity! GASP! So, on our way home, we stopped by Best Buy to get it. As we were walking in we saw some kid come out with a Wii. DOUBLE GASP! Heather, was one of the lucky ones to get a system!!! (oh, and Serenity) Now the question remains, is she going to wait for Dave to come home to open it????

I've also decided that I am going to buy The O.C. season 4, after all the fall shows are out. Because I need Heroes and Supernatural and Friday Night Lights and . . . . yeah. Damn you TV!

We went bowling today! Well, Heather bowled and I watched, but it was still fun. And then we came back and I kept reading the 94809384032 tabs I had open and we made lasgna (or Heather did, and I browned the meat) and then we saw Supberbad.

Uhg, so after I got here I realized how much I read my flist. It's just not the same with Heather's computer. The screen is far away and it's slow and she uses IE and !!!!! Anyway, my power cord finally arrived from home and now I'm back on my own computer! YAAAAAY!

On the plus side I've read three novels since Monday! The Yiddish Police Man's Union by Micheal Charbon, and the first two books in the His Dark Material's trilogy. On the minus I've got like, 7 million tabs open.


It also rained today. O.o WTF, Vegas?

I made it kids! I am now in miss_tress's computer room and we're both ignoring each other and reading our flists like losers! YAY! I love visiting Heather! Tomorrow is new movie day, and Wednesday is new comic day and oohh, Heather has to get a hair cut! Neeto!

Ugh,work guys: some one is stealing money and then 'mysteriously' finding it again. O.O really? a $100 bill just 'showed up' in the safe? Hokay. I some how managed to miscount the deposit I counted FIVE FUCKING TIMES because the safe was $21 off, by an extra $100? Sure, that shit happens all the time. Especially when none of the drawers or the safe were missing any money other than the $21. Crazy how that shit always turns up when you open, Maggie. Really. God, if I wasn't leaving for 10 days and then home for 10 and then gone again for another 7 I would call the DM myself and demand that Maggie get fired. Unless it's Matt who's stealing and he's just a little bit more clever than I think he is. But still this shit has gone on long enough.

Some of you took offense to a comment made by one of our staff member burr86 in a community dedicated to ironic humor. No one is perfect, and in this case he exercised bad judgment, especially since his jokes made him seem to feel the opposite of how he really does. We are positive that his intention was merely to blow off a little steam in a highly stressful and intense situation, and he did not mean to belittle these issues or fandom as a whole.

Really? Really? SOME of US took offense to the public face of Strikethrough 07 calling all of fandom a bunch of pedophiles? Because I'm not even in the HP fandom and I fucking took offense. Who cares where it was posted? That's like saying 'no offense, but you're a fucking idiot and I hope you die, tee hee hee'.

The current LJ climate has got me wondering. Does the Abuse Team have the power to look at Flocked and private entries? People seem to think that a flock is like Fort Knox, but it doesn't seem likely. And yet, if something isn't readily available to the public, who would report them? Couldn't all illegal activity be put behind some innocuous name and pretend to be something they're not? Like a white supremacist group calling themselves 'spring_time_for_hitler' and pretending to be a community about the Producers. If everything is flocked how would anyone who's not a member know?

Also, bubble_blunder has some good ideas here for communicating with LJ/6A as a community.

So I haven't blogged since the 16th of last month. I woke up on the 17th and found out that Chance (my dog) had puked on my computer. I had tucked it under the couch with the screen open because I was finishing a download, and I guess he got sick while sleeping on the couch and his puke went down the screen and pooled on my keyboard. I called my mom's computer guy and he said to go to Best Buy first and see if they'd replace it under warranty . However, since I didn't buy the $300 extra warranty I was SOL. BUT! generous souls that they are over at the geek squad, they'd take a look at it for $60 and then send it off to Gateway for a $250 retainer. Thanks a whole bunch, Best Buy you fucking fucks. So my mom's computer guy got me in on Wednesday the 25 and takes apart my laptop and says 'yeah, you need a new keyboard' and he takes it to sweet talk/strong arm Gateway into sending me a new keyboard for free and getting them to send it in 3 to 5 days instead of the regular 30-60 days. YAY PAUL MAC! So we wait, and wait and wait and on Friday the 3nd it came and Paul put it in! YAY!


While all this was going on Chance got sicker and sicker. On Tuesday he puked about 15 times in the house and wouldn't eat or take his Greenie, we knew he was really, really sick. On Wednesday the 19th we took him in and had blood work and x-rays and ultrasounds done. This showed that there was a mass in his upper gut and they didn't know what the fuck it was. The head Vet wanted us to do exploratory surgery and start Chemo, and we just couldn't see doing that for a 13 year old dog. They gave us some Predisone to shrink the mass and give him some relief. And it worked for a few days, but on Saturday night Robin woke up and he was unable to get up and was sick (if you know what I mean) all over the couch. We took him into the Emergency vet's and put him down. It hit Robin a lot harder than me, I knew he wasn't going to get any better.

The couch that Chance basically died on had been left in the house my parents bought when Betsy was a baby and Heather (sister) took it when we moved out of there and into the current family home. Robin took in when she and Heather lived together in Denver, and brought it when we moved in together three years ago. So it was old and wasn't worth trying to get the smell out. Dad came over on Thursday with the truck and we loaded it and the old washer and an old gate and a bunch of tree branches and stuff up and Robin and I took it all to the dump.

The 16th was also the last day I had off for the next ten days. Yeah, that's right, some how my boss didn't notice that he didn't give me a weekend. Thanks, Matt! I was only scheduled for 9 days, but a coworker (now thankfully former) called me on Thurday morning sounding all pathetic and, like a sucker, I agreed to work for her.

But now I'm back! My sister Heather missed being on the bridge that collapesed by about 45 minutes, my computer is back, in 10 days I'm going to Vegas, and I'm claudia79ad over at Insanejournal and Greatestjournal, so friend me over there too.

As if I wasn't in love with the Butcher enough, TAI TV had to go and show me he's an awesome artist too. Damn it TAI!

Seriously guys, watch it. guh.

So I had a weird night at work tonight. C's mom came in to rent. I don't think she recognized me, but I wouldn't forget her. It was just uncomfortable to try and help someone when I basically think she killed her kid. Not that I blame her for not seeing a way out, but I do blame her for raising a kid like C in the first place.

So last night I had a dream that I was at a Fall Out Boy concert and Kiss opened for them and they Co-headlined with Ozzy Osborn. And Patrick sang 'Crazy Train' with Ozzy. What?! It was super cool, but really brain? Kiss and Ozzy? Hokay. O.O

clearly I've had fun at my summer concerts this year. :)

The only down side is that the neutered and de-toothed Congress wont do a goddamn thing. The majority of the American people will ignore the pardoning of Scooter Libby, too. Yeah, so even though I'm not the biggest Panic! fan in the world (I like reading about them fucking each other way more than I like listening to their album) I am rather dorkily excited about Summerfest! Bets and I are going to camp! I'm going to make her eat hot dogs and we'll make s'mores! Then it's a bunch of bands that I dig (omg yay Gym Class Heroes!) and then it's back home! Yay! 14+ hours in the car for like five hours of music! The mommy lady is so very not excited about us going, but whatever! (I still really hope I can talk her into letting us take her car, it's much more sensible for camping what with it being a station wagon and all! Plus, Betsy's car is kind of a lemon! You wouldn't want us to DIE in Wisconsin would you, Mom? so so so going to win this::thinks positive::)

On a non-fanish note, dude, I got the best shoes in the history of the world the other day!

With my oh, so very flat/wide feet I can never find sneakers that aren't monumentally uncomfortable for me to stand in, so I've been wearing Birks pretty much non-stops since like, 2000. I'm super excited to have shoes that I can wear when saddles or my black dress shoes aren't appropriate (like concerts!) But, maybe wearing them for the first time on an eight hour shift at the store was not the best idea ever. :/ I'd forgotten how much breaking in new shoes sucks. Ok, meds and bed. Really.

My fucking white-trash across-the-street neighbors appear to be having some sort of brawl. First there was a smacking sound, like someone punching plastic, now there are defiantly raised voices and a couple of guys took off down the street on foot and a car followed them.

Everybody else who lived here when we moved in is moving out, why not these assholes? geez.

Yay, now it sounds like the Cops are on their way. ::eye roll:: Yeah, they're doing a door to door because someone said there were gun shots. Cute Cop, though.


On a better note, I love playing Wii Sports. I totally rock at bowling! and I really got the hang of boxing there at the end.

So I got up and but my clothes in the washing machine this morning. This, while not a common occurrence, does not usually rate an LJ post. What does get a post is the fact that about 10 minutes in to the cycle I hear a thump/crash noise and assume it was the cats knocking over something again, and when I went down stairs to look discovered the Washer was smoking. Yeah, that can't be good. So I unplugged it, and I hope the 'rents will shell out to get it replaced since it's about 100 years old and kind of crappy anyway. Plus, Robin is still in RUSSIA for fuck's sake and that's way more money than a new washer/dryer.
